Shadows of Identity
A conceptual series on visibility and concealment, built around a single hard source and a wall of louvred glass. Each frame withholds as much of the subject as it reveals.
The commission asked for portraits of six artists who had spent years working anonymously. Rather than resolve that anonymity, we made it the subject: light arrives in bands, faces sit partly outside the falloff, and no sitter is ever fully described in a single frame.
Working Process
The Unseen Work
We don’t just capture moments; we construct narratives through light, shadow, and rigorous preparation.
Role
Director / DOP
Duration
3 Weeks
01
Discovery & Direction
Defining the visual language. We strip the idea down to its core emotion before building the storyboard.
02
Concept & Story
Location scouting and casting. Every variable is calculated to ensure the shoot day flows like jazz.
03
Production & Capture
Execution. Controlled chaos. We embrace the imperfections of the environment while adhering to the vision.
04
Refinement & Delivery
The edit, color grade, and sound design. This is where the atmosphere is truly solidified.
